Senator Barney Frank: pro online gambling

Barney Frank, head of the US House Financial Services Committee and chief proponent to put an end to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in favour of legalized and regulated online gambling, is facing more pressing issues with the current global ec0nomic downturn and the Bill will not be debated until at least September 2009.

This is a mild blow for online casino operators who would wish to return to the US market once the current laws have changed.

Frank, a Republican, is enjoying growing support for the proposed legislation with pressure from the US public to exercise their right to gamble online. It also seems as if though the original supporters of UIGEA are either less vehement about banning online gambling, or now in favour of legalization and regulation.

For those US citizens wanting to gamble online, the only game they can play right now is the waiting game.
